Assist. Prof. Dr. Janet Leandro Marmolejo | Microbiología bacteriana | Research Excellence Award

Investigador de Laboratorio | Colegio de Postgraduados | Mexico

Assist. Prof. Dr. Janet Leandro Marmolejo is an emerging scholar in animal science whose work integrates genetic resources, livestock productivity, and applied microbiology to strengthen sustainable animal production systems across Latin America. Currently affiliated with the Colegio de Postgraduados, Montecillo, where she also pursues her Master of Science in Recursos Genéticos y Productividad–Ganadería, she builds on a solid academic foundation established during her training as an Ingeniera Agrónoma Especialista en Zootecnia at the Universidad Autónoma Chapingo. Dr. Leandro Marmolejo has contributed to a developing but impactful body of research, authoring four works that span peer-reviewed publications, applied methodological designs, and conference presentations. Her recent article in Applied Microbiology (2025) analyzes the seasonal metabolic behavior of Streptomyces avermitilis in agricultural soils, produced in collaboration with multidisciplinary researchers and highlighting her capacity for cross-field integration. She has also developed innovative sanitary-calendar rotation methods for Suffolk sheep feedlot systems, reflecting her commitment to improving animal health management through evidence-based techniques. Her conference studies include reproductive morphometric assessments in water buffaloes using advanced andrological tools, as well as ethological evaluations of double-breasted turkeys under contrasting environments to understand behavioral influences on productivity. Collectively, her work intersects microbiology, animal welfare, reproductive biotechnology, and production efficiency, contributing insights that support healthier herds and more resilient livestock systems. Although early in her academic trajectory, Dr. Leandro Marmolejo has demonstrated strong collaborative engagement with research groups in Mexico and Central America, positioning her as a promising academic leader dedicated to advancing sustainable, scientifically grounded practices in global animal agriculture.
